Amazon Bids for .book Domain

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) has outspokenly criticized Amazon on their recent bid for “closed generic Top-Level Domains” (gTLD), an attempt at exclusive control of the new .book domain name.  AAP has written a public letter to The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) explaining that the .book domain could be used internationally by companies and individuals in the related field and the approval of Amazon’s application would not be in the public’s interest.
