The U.S. Postal Service adds jobs but is actually shrinking

The U.S. Postal Service added more than 4,000 jobs in February, but the postal workforce is actually shrinking. Many are wondering how they could add jobs when USPS has publicly been struggling to stay above water, most recently announcing plans to cut Saturday mail delivery.  While the amount of employees as a total has increased, the ratio of full time to part time workers has changed drastically.  With more part time employees, USPS is able to shift the workload to them and save on possible over-time costs that more senior employees are eligible to receive.
