MATHEW W. SWENSON – DIRECTOR OF INTELLIGENCE
Born in Minnesota and based in LA for the past 11 years, Mathew began his career as a fashion editor for the LA camp zine GLUE before turning to fashion styling, and reporting for Hintmag, Jalouse(USA), Los Angeles Magazine, Raygun, Freshjive, Society for Rationald Dress and American Apparel.

In 2003 Swenson launched LA native brand Society for Rational Dress, a label that became a local success, going on to sell in over 50 stores including Barneys NY.

In 2004 Swenson joined the brand team at American Apparel which open a record number of stores in 13 markets. The company won numerous awards for its design, international relevance and use of typography, and snapshot photography style. In 2008 Swenson was one of the youngest to make the OUT100 list.

In May 2008 Swenson ended his work with American Apparel to focus on Intelligence, the full-service branding and design agency he set up in 2008. The agency brought with it many of the creative talents at American Apparel as well as a variety of other talents he had worked with over the years.

In the same year Swenson consulted for new Hollywood design favorite Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders. Advising on matters of publicity and brand relevance. Working on 3 of Sternberg’s noted installation shows while also creating a buzz around Sternbergs CFDA menswear award win.
